GROOMING
Standard Grooming
Standard grooming consists of a full de-shed, wash, comb and blow dry, eyes, ears and nose clean. Standard Grooming does not include any shaving or removal of matting.
Prices are based on a standard, up to two hours' time frame for one groomer. If your cat requires more time than the allocated 2 hours or if an assistant groomer is required during a standard groom, there will be a minimal assistant fee/added charge of $50.
Shaving & Matting Removal
Each cat is assessed individually and will always include an assistant for the safety of both your cat and the groomers.
Assisted medical grade matting removal grooming can take anywhere from 2.5 - 6 hours depending on the emotional state your cat is in and the severity of the matting. Often in these situations, the cat is in lots of pain and the removal process must be achieved with absolute precision and safety
We charge an extra $100 per regular groom fee for all matting and shaving. This covers our minimum assistant groomer's fees for matting removal and prevention/cosmetic shaving. We do our absolute best to work as efficiently as we are safely able. Some exceptionally difficult grooms will take a little longer and sometimes we will need to consider charging a wee bit more on these occasions - we will always communicate with you beforehand.
Lions Cut
The lion's cut is a full body shave, removing all problem areas and purposefully leaving the Maine, chest, shoulders, boots and end of tail long to give the overall aesthetic appearance of looking like a mini lion. For breeds with flatter face shapes, we can adapt this cut to look more like a teddy bear. The Lion's cut is best for cats whose owners cannot commit to regular maintenance grooming, cats who are contraindicated for regular grooming or for cats who just generally feel hot and uncomfortable beneath all that coat!
It is our experience that some cats really thrive having the lions cut - especially over summer!
Matting & shaving can be avoided with regular grooming!
We aim to keep your cats coat in top condition following the initial groom with 6 weekly regular maintenance grooms.
We have found that this is the golden timeframe for cats who are prone to matting. 6 weekly maintenance grooms almost always keep the matting at bay, reduces ongoing stress and pain for your cat and removes the need for a more difficult and costly groom again in the future, with the bonus that your cat will become happier and healthier in everyday cat life at home!
This is a 'Win - Win" for everyone.
For cats prone to matting, who are not able to commit to a maintenance schedule, we recommend a lions cut 3-4 times per year.
